Portland, Oregon showed it was truly Obama country during a rally on Sunday, where an estimated 75,000 people showed up to hear the candidate speak at Tom McCall Waterfront Park, on the bank of the Willamette River. The photos of Obama--an ant amidst a sea of people--must be sending chills down the Clinton campaign's collective spine.
The 75,000 strong crowd doubled (and-then-some) the previous record for attendance at an Obama event. Before the candidate took the stage, the crowd was serenaded by Portland's own, The Decemberists. The band, like Obama, were doubtlessly playing for their largest crowd to-date. Oregon's primary is this Tuesday, the 20th. As the record-breaking crowd indicates, Obama is expected to win handily.

that's a whole lot of white people for obama.
Call me sentimental, but this makes me verklempt. (And, Kim, from what I understand, any rally in Portland would bring out a whole lot of white people.) I do wish he would at least make the appearance of giving a gosh darn about the good people of Kentucky, though...
That's a lot of elitists!!!
tsssssss! that's ok though. if whites uniting is what its going to take to win the nomination whatever. lets get this done and move forward.
after watching McCain on SNL this weekend i am just ready to get this bullcrap over and get on with the head to head. furreal.
i was partly commenting on how amazed i am at the whiteness of northwest cities, and partly commenting on hillary's "white people are for me" thing. i'm still holding out hope for hillary, and will til she is out of it (or wins!)...but can't deny the impressiveness of 75,000 people turning out for this guy. holy crap. go him!
Oregon IS Kentucky, just with prettier trees.
