Can't Miss It: Weekend Edition, May 16-18

HUGE AMOUNTS OF CHEESE: The Cheese Festival is upon us! This is one of our top three favorite events of the year (#2: our birthday, #3: Christmas). Several reasons: a city block full of cheese, friendly vendors, wholesale prices on bottles in the wine garden (don't buy the red wine that says "bacon" three times in its description, we made that mistake last year), and (it bears repeating) a city block full of cheese.

10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday and Sunday // Pike Place Market // $1 suggested donation

KIM'S PICK: ROBOTS!: We're of two minds when it comes to robots. The ones that look vaguely human are cute and fascinating in that anything-with-eyes-can-be-cute sort of way. (On a related topic, there's also the possibility of sex with robots.) On the other hand, there's the possibility that they can become smarter than us, form armies, and destroy us all. So, you know, it could go either way. Anyway, point being that the Sci Fi Museum will be kicking off its robots exhibit tonight.

10 a.m.-5 p.m. May 16-Oct 26 // Science Fiction Museum // $15 adults, $12 kids, free for members and kids under 4

AMERICAN GLADIATOR ON WHEELS: On Sunday, hop on your two-wheeled transportation device and head over to Fremont for the Urban Assault Ride. This annual event is a bicycle scavenger hunt with games and challenges (bike jousting!) at each checkpoint. Free beer awaits you at the end; as if you need any more motivation, the winners also receive shiny new bikes. Register, pick up your info packet and carb-load on Saturday, then go crazy on Sunday!

9 a.m, Sunday // Fremont Outdoor Cinema, 3501 Phinney Avenue N // $120 per team

SEX, DRUGS, ROCK'N'ROLL, RAP: Kidding on the first two. Nas is in town! The show's sold out, so good luck with the scalpers; instead you should go see The Posies on Saturday and get your '90s power pop on (they've just added a second show). We also recommend hitting up the High Dive on Sunday to see Cancer Rising, D.Black, Neema and Kublakai at the first stop on their 206 Degrees And Rising tour. Our first local hiphop show ever was Cancer Rising at the High Dive; if you plan on coming out, be prepared to fall hard for hiphop.

The Posies, special guests // 7 p.m. and 11:10 p.m., Saturday // Neumos, 925 E. Pike St // $12 // 21+
206 Degrees And Rising // 8 p.m., Sunday // High Dive, 513 N. 36th St. // $8 // 21+
