Rumormonger Says Johnny Depp’s Buying the Croc
Someone named Shilo Urban at Seattle-based CultureMob claimed yesterday that:
It’s going around the streets of Seattle like wildfire that Johnny Depp is going to buy the old Crocodile Cafe and make it much, much cooler (and hotter) than it ever was before.
Apparently Seattlest isn’t in touch with "the streets," cuz we haven’t heard a thing.
Or maybe we’re just not hanging with the right drunks.
This is from several unreliable sources, some of whom were at least partially inebriated at the time of bean-spillage. It’s a juicy one though, and Seattle would LOVE it to be true, am I right?
Or maybe because someone named Shilo Urban thought name-dropping Mr. Scissorhands would drive traffic to the Mob site.
If our amazing powers of cynicism are accurate, Johnny Depp’s interest in the former Crocodile Café starts and ends with shameless self-promotion.
Yeah, it’d be swell if Depp were down with Seattle club ownership. It’d be swell to see the Croc open again. But it’d also be swell if it hit 80 dry-sky degrees this weekend.
Are we talking out of turn? Is this "wildfire" rumor actually producing smoke? Tell us we're just bitter snarks.

The fact that "Shilo Urban" used the term "spreading like wildfire" to describe the rumor, when no one I've talked to in the community has heard a peep about it...that's where she loses me.
But who wants to bet Culture Mob's traffic quadrupled yesterday with the surfacing of this rumor?
I'm not clicking on that link.
Why are you even giving this rumor any of your time? Are you just upset that you didn't think of it first or are you looking to ride the traffic wave?
Lighten up.
i'm just saying that this shorty here shilo she best stick to pillow fights and adventure travel. it aint no thing if she wants to be starting fires here and there but dang stuff gets out.
keep the community honest and you keep the community clean. all i'm saying.

tis hard to say what was/is goin' thru everyone's mind here in this court of blog opinion, so to speak, but one thing's for sure: Johnny Depp lives in France. Frickin' FRANCE. which makes this a non-controversy, assuming, of course, that, ummmm, uhhhh, OMG, hep me, i think i just almost but not quite turned into the Uptight Seattleite's scatterbrained lawyer/slash/personal-guru/slash/pot-dealer dude... whew, close one!
