Fight!

Seattlest is no proponent or fan of violence, but we have always enjoyed a good baseball brawl. And the Seattle Mariners, failing at all other parts of what we find enjoyable about the game, decided to throw us a bone--giving us the first bench-clearer of the season.

Mariners' first baseman Richie Sexson charged the mound and threw his helmet at Rangers' pitcher Kason Gabbard, after Gabbard threw a high pitch near the 6'7" player's head. We see a suspension or hefty fine in Sexson's near future.

Some intrepid person has already created a YouTube video of the event, with title pages and everything. You don't get to watch the brawl live, but they do replay it around the three minute mark of the video. But make sure the watch the macho posturing and shoving that happens before the replay. The Ms are losing and brawling...it really is spring in Seattle.

Update: We were right! According to the Seattle Times, MLB has suspended Sexson for six games.

That's the first hit Richie's gotten in ages.

I've got to agree. Looks like Richie was just trying to create at least one Mariners highlight.

That was hilarious. That ball was pretty close to right over the plate and at least 6" from his head. What a sack.
