No Webby for Us This Year

But one day, one day...the -est will triumph! And we will store the Webby proudly in our non-existent imaginary headquarters, and it will be magnificent.

Sorry, did we say that out loud?

The Webby Award winners, the Oscars of the Internet, were announced yesterday and Seattlest was, again, robbed. Winning web-sites included local lolcat phenomenon I Can Has Cheezburger?, which won the peoples/popular vote for both Best Weird and Best Humor web-site. A couple notable web-sites were recognized as winners by both the academy and popular vote: The Huffington Post (blog-poltics) and Post Secret (blog-cultural) swept their categories. Our beloved Flickr was also named the best web community, an award we can certainly agree with. Looking through the list of Webby Winners, one realizes they are not much unlike the other Academy Awards, there is a category for everything. For example—an award for the best pharmaceutical website, really?

Sadly, this amazing trophy is not actually the Webby Award. "Jell-o Shot Trophy" courtesy of Flickr contributor steelcut oats
