Meanwhile, At Marymoor This Summer...

Remember how we said that ZooTunes was going to be kicking this summer? Well, Marymoor is kicking harder, at least initially. It's kicking off with a big double sucker-punch to the Zoo: Erykah Badu and The Roots. On the same night: June 5. And then it'll kind of fizz out.

Okay, so aside from three or four other artists making an appearance at the ginormous Eastside park (ahem—Willie Nelson, Brandi Carlile, Blackalicious, ...perhaps the Doobie Brothers?), we're less than thrilled with the lineup. But kicking off your season with Erykah Badu and the Roots is pretty solid. Other artists booked at Marymoor this year? Live, Backstreet Boys, Collective Soul, Los Lobos. Yonder Mountain String Band is pretty good. Still...eh. Check out the full 2008 Marymoor concert lineup.

hmm...the marymoor site says that the shins will be at the SP20 fest, but i find no evidence of that at the subpop site...

hm, the only thing i can say to this is that the marymoor lineup was announced today (may 5) and the most recent posting about it on the subpop page was posted apr. 25. maybe there was an update in the lineup since then? i'm checking with my sources ad subpop and will get back to you on that...

The Roots are going to be so much fun at the outdoor venue!

And did you know after the Roots/Erykah Badu show at Marymoor that ?uestlove will be playing a DJ set at Neumos' with Black Thought as the MC?

The event is presented by CultureMob.com and there will be dozens of tickets given away.

Read about the party here:

Wait... I couldn't get past Backstreet Boys. They are still making music? More shocking is they are still touring.

According to my sources at SubPop, it is NOT true that the Shins will be playing the SubPop show at Marymoor this summer. So...yeah, no Shins.
