Timothy Garon, the local man who was denied a life-saving liver transplant because he used doctor-prescribed medicinal marijuana, died late Thursday.Garon was recieving hospice care at the Bailey-Boushay House where he died, according to a press statement by his lawyer.
Few stories we've written or read lately seem as tragic or senseless as Garon's. We doubt, if Garon had been able to medicate his pain with morphine or pills, that we would be writing this story. Doctors would have never removed him from the transplant list for using legal, doctor-prescribed drugs...oh wait, he WAS doing that.
If you're as outraged as we are that Timothy Garon was denied the only treatment that could have saved his life, solely because he used legally prescribed medical marijuana, please take the time to contact the University of Washington Medical Center and let them know.

**UPDATE: If you're the marching/demonstrating type, you can join a march tomorrow in honor of Garon and others whose medical marijuana prescriptions help them get through the day. It kicks off at noon in Volunteer Park.
