Hang Up and Ride!

Earlier this week, as MyBallard noted, King County Metro reported that Seattle bus ridership in the first three months of 2008 is six percent higher than the same period last year, which we think is great. The more of us on buses, the less of us driving.

However, the more of us on buses, the more chance there is to encounter obnoxious cellphone users, which we do not think is great. So we were psyched when, during our commute this morning (we couldn't ride in as we usually do because the Vancouver Half Marathon is Sunday and we're saving our legs), we saw the below ad.

We're glad to see Metro is trying to educate new riders not to yell about their most recent herpes outbreak during the afternoon commute. Now, if they can also educate new riders to have their fares and passes ready when they get off the bus so they don't hold up the line...

Sorry for the crappy quality of the picture. It was early and we were blind.

How about NO cellphone use on the bus?

Seriously, there is NOTHING so important for you that you can't wait 20 mins until you're not surrounded by strangers in an enclosed space.

(Surely these are the same people who are on their phones when driving and end up going 10 miles below the speed limit or are oblivious to people who are trying to merge)

  • Did you take it with your phone?
