ZooTunes to Kick Ass This Year

Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings
We've been looking forward to this day for weeks. Mainly because ZooTunes is one of our very favorite concert series. Who doesn't love an excuse to sit out on the grass at the zoo, grab a plastic cup of some local beer, a picnic dinner, and watch world class singer/songwriters have at it?

The 2008 lineup was announced this morning, and we're going to waste no more time giving it to you:

June 24 & 25 - Keb' Mo' / Taj Mahal $28

June 29 - Indigo Girls with special guests $24

July 16 - Marc Cohn / Aimee Mann $22

July 23 - Andrew Bird $17
Josh Ritter

July 24 - Emmylou Harris $29.50
Jimmy Gaudreau and Moondi Klein

July 27 – Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings $19
Marc Broussard

August 13 - Boz Scaggs with special guests $24

August 21 - Amos Lee with special guests $18

August 27 – The Avett Brothers $18
Shawn Mullins

You really can't argue with a concert series that kicks off with Taj Mahal and Keb Mo', and then ends with the Avett Brothers. We're not really sure what they mean by "with special guests," although we assume the Indigo Girls will have Brandi Carlile with them again (bummer Brandi won't be playing her own set at the zoo, but we'll survive). Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings will bring a much different vibe to the zoo than the rest of the lineup, but we're stoked about that show nonetheless. Few people work a stage quite like Ms. Jones. Time to start saving up for tickets, since prices range from $18-29.50, depending on the show. Tickets go on sale next Monday, May 5.

SHARON JONES!!! She is the shite! Caught a few minutes of her in a desert this weekend and can't wait for more.

I've seen Andrew Bird twice and he is pretty good. I saw Amos Lee at the Triple Door and had a great time, nice and mellow to bask in the sun with.

yeah, i'm pretty stoked about andrew bird, too. he's kind of incredible live, just because it's hard to believe he can pull all that off!

I've started listening to Andrew Bird recently (last week) and am growing fond of him, the track "Oh Sister" in particular. Sharon Jones should be amazing too.

Andrew Bird is definitely the most exciting act in the lineup! I cannot wait!
