Can't Miss It: Weekend Edition
FOOD: First things first. Before you go rushing off into your weekend, you should eat. Eastlake Italian restaurant Serafina is having a grand reopening Friday night after a kitchen remodel and bar facelift, with a new spring menu. It's their 18th anniversary, too. What more do you need?
Friday, 5:30-11 p.m. // Serafina, 2043 Eastlake Avenue East // Entrees $16-$27
MUSIC: The GRAMMY-winning Shelby Lynne is at the Showbox SoDo Friday night. Her new album is called Just A Little Lovin', and nine of the ten tracks are newly arranged versions of Dusty Springfield songs (e.g., "Anyone Who Had A Heart", "Breakfast In Bed," "You Don't Have To Say You Love Me"). You would not believe the critical rapture that this has inspired. For instance, People gives her 3.5 out of 4 stars. But no, seriously, credible sources say it's for real.
SCOOTERING: In honor of a new Vespa store's opening, there's a big scooter meet-up and ride planned for Saturday. Everyone's congregating at Scoot About's Westlake location at 11 a.m., then scooting off to Vespa Eastside (15815 Woodinville Redmond Road Northeast) in Woodinville. There'll be a BBQ and then a tech session (led by one "Victor") at 2 p.m. Then possibly maybe an eastside scoot before heading back Seattle-way.
Saturday, 11 a.m. // Scoot About, Westlake and Mercer Street // FREE
JAZZ: The Ballard Jazz Festival runs all weekend. Friday night you've got the Hadley Caliman Quintet and Hal Galper Trio ($20); Saturday, Lee Konitz with the Hal Galper Trio and the Sam Yahel Trio ($35); and Sunday, a big finish with a jazz brunch. Swedish pancakes and performances by Brent Jensen, Bill Anschell, Doug Miller, and Greg Williamson. Details on the brunch below.
Sunday, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. // Nordic Heritage Museum, 3014 Northwest 67th Street // Tickets: $10
The listed events were chosen by the editors of Seattlest and brought to you by the 2009 Toyota Corolla.
