Can't Miss It: Thursday

zoescofield.gifDANCE: "Feral ballet" choreographer Zoe Scofield, visual designer Juniper Shuey, and composer Morgan Henderson bring "The Devil You Know Is Better Than The One You Don't" to On the Boards for its Seattle premiere. We're told it builds off "hard luck accounts of adolescence and the suckiness of group dynamics." Dancers are Christiana Axelsen, Ezra Dickinson, Lizzy Melton, Zoe Scofield, and Allison Van Dyck. We're going, we expect good things.

8 p.m. // On the Boards, 100 West Roy Street // Tickets: $18

HI-DEF DRUMS: Tonight Drum Corps International presents The Countdown, digitally shown locally at the Pacific Place cinemas, with six full-length performances selected from the 2005, 2006, and 2007 Drum Corps International World Championship finalists. New this year, fans will try their hand at the judging process and can help select the “2008 Countdown Champion” with a downloadable score sheet. Here are the six favorite corps performances, remixed and remastered:

    2007 Blue Devils (Concord, CA)
    2007 Bluecoats (Canton, OH)
    2005 The Cadets (Allentown, PA)
    2006 Phantom Regiment (Rockford, IL)
    2006 The Cavaliers (Rosemont, IL)
2007 Carolina Crown (Fort Mills, SC)

7:30 p.m. // AMC Pacific Place 11, 600 Pine Street // Tickets: $11

BENEFIT: If you've ever wanted a real Wire-ish, heavy-drinking newsie experience, there's a fundraiser for the canned Seattle Times employees...officially, the Guild Membership Assistance Fund...at Paddy Coyne's Pub. Pub appetizers will provided and there will be lots of literate, rumor-mongering company. If you go, tell 'em Seattlest sent you with a tear in our eye.

6-9 p.m. // Paddy Coyne's Pub, 1190 Thomas Street // $20 donation, please RSVP

MUSIC: Much-touted Simian Mobile Disco (What is it with mobile discos lately?) are at Neumo's. Manchester dj duo James Ford and Jas Shaw make their beats "by hand," with analog synths and drum machines, and the result is "pretty incredible," according to Seattlest Donte. And, apparently, the New York Times. So that pretty much covers all the bases.

8 p.m. doors // Neumo's, 925 East Pike Street // Tickets: $12 adv (21+)
