ART: New York graffiti artist Ghost a/k/a Cousin Frank has a show up at the BLVD Gallery. A pioneer who got started in the late 1970s, Ghost was on the ground for the NYC subway graffiti movement featured so prominently in Warriors. His stuff is instantly recognizable. If we end up walking by, we're heading in.
1-6 p.m. // BLVD Gallery, 2316 Second Avenue // FREE
FILM: Now where did that cat Jonesy get off to? You know in space, no one can hear you meow. Okay, that's all the clues. We're off to Central Cinema tonight for some beer, pizza, and exploding abdominal cavities. It's the director's cut of the original Alien. Pass the gourmet popcorn with real butter. Pass it!
MUSIC: As we were saying earlier, Ani DiFranco is at the Moore, doing her thing "with a killer backup band made up of Todd Sickafoose, Allison Miller, and Mike Dillon." There's just something about Ani though. We could listen to her read a phone book, but with 19 albums and counting, there's no reason to do that.
8 p.m. // Moore Theatre, 1932 Second Avenue // Tickets: $35
BOOKS: Wow, we haven't heard from Vashon's Michael Meade in a while. Whatever happened to the Men's Movement anyway? Anyway, now the mythologist and storyteller has a new book, The World Behind the World: Living at the Ends of Time. Here's a video of Meade talking about the idea behind it.
7 p.m. // Langston Hughes Performing Arts Center, 104 17th Avenue South // FREE
