Alexander Gone, Safeco Field Next?

SweetHome%2520Alexander.jpg24.jpg

Sports fans around the city are saying goodbye to Shaun Alexander. The former NFL MVP was released by the Seahawks following eight seasons.

Now, we may be saying good-bye to Safeco Field.

Liberty Mutual’s purchase of Safeco might mean a new name for the city’s baseball stadium.

San Francisco’s baseball stadium opened up a few months after Safeco, and was originally named Pac Bell for the phone company Pacific Bell, a few years late its name was changed to SBC Park, after Pacific Bell’s parent company. When SBC merged with AT&T it became AT&T Park.

The most famous stadium to be reamed was Houston baseball stadium. The current Minute Maid (delicious) Park was originally named Enron (evil) Field.

It's a corporate world, folks.

Of course keep in mind that we have no idea how mergers, or any of that businessy stuff works--so who the hell knows?

Oh, they've gone on record as saying they'll keep the Safeco name, so yeah, it should be Liberty Mutual Field in approximately 2 years.

I'm now going to start a movement to call it Garlic Fry Field.

How about calling it Special Session Park?
