Is That Dress Made From Carpet? Product Runway Coming In May
On May 2nd, during the Bravo!-glam event of this spring, twenty teams from several of Seattle's best design firms will showcase the innovative (and hopefully, fierce!) haute couture lines they've been challenged to design from manufacturing materials like upholstery, plastics, and lighting. Though this won't be on TV, the entertainment value of this one-night-only fashion show looks very promising.
Oh, my! What will Seattlest wear to Product Runway? Our usual hoodie and jeans combo will most definitely not suffice for this event, hosted by classy Seattle drag queen Glamazonia at the South Lake Union Naval Reserve.
The illustrious judges? Angela Adams, furnishings and accessories designer; Matt Lorenz, winner of Bravo's Top Design; Jack Mackenroth (pictured), from the most recent season of Bravo's Project Runway; and June Rau, Nordstrom's Fashion Director.
Regional firms such as CollinsWoerman, Bassetti Architecture, Weber+Thompson, Callison, and NBBJ have been hard at work this winter, competing to create the coolest, most lovely designs to please the judges' panel. Check out a sneak preview video of the runway! (Is that guy supposed to look like he's straight out of Star Wars?)
Ticket prices go up on April 21st, so we recommend you purchase your passes online soon. There will be "couture cocktails" (God only knows what that entails, but it sounds delicious), a reception with "heavy hor d'oevers", and commentary from the celebrity judges. If you spring for the VIP tickets, you're also invited to an after-party to schmooze with famous people! Proceeds go to the Interior Design Coalition of Washington, which is putting on the whole, fabulous evening.
6:30pm // May 2nd // South Lake Union Naval Reserve (860 Terry Ave. N) // $50 to $150 adv.

I am shocked Seattle Metropolitan doesn't have a hand in this event.
Yeah, Jack is our neighbor (but we hear he grew up on the eastside)
"Couture Cocktails" appears to include some combination of Dry Soda and Skyy Vodka. Either way, me likey!
@ jseattle, that is awesome. I grew up on the Eastside (shhh) so Jack and I are essentially the same person!!
@ satchmo278, I actually like that weird Dry Soda stuff, so that combo sounds good to me too.
and @ audrey... Yeah, seems like they would.
