Heads Up: First Sneak Peek at the Bumbershoot Lineup

Last night, Bumbershoot announced the first set of acts slated for this year's festival. So far, there's a name or two that could draw us to Seattle Center this Labor Day weekend. Beck? Hell yes! A reunited Stone Temple Pilots? Not so much.

Beck / Stone Temple Pilots / Lucinda Williams / Neko Case / Ingrid Michaelson / Jakob Dylan / Del Tha Funky Homosapien / !!! / Lee "Scratch" Perry / Saul Williams / Joe Bonamassa / M. Ward / The Walkmen / Asylum St. Spankers / Dan Deacon / MIDIval PunditZ / Blitzen Trapper / Bedouin Soundclash / Tim Finn / Dale Watson / John Vanderslice / Final Fantasy / The Fall of Troy / Orgone / Forro in the Dark / Ryan Bingham / Wreckless Eric & Amy Rigby / Arthur & Yu / Darondo and Nino Moschella / Pacifika

Of course, Bumbershoot is about more than just the music, with the Literary Arts program set to include graphic novelists Dan Clowes and Adrian Tomine, sci-fi legend William Gibson, a special edition of Starlee Kine and Arthur Jones' Post-It Note Reading Series, authors Nathan McCall, Francesca Lia-Block, and Kevin Sessums.

In the realm of dance and performance, there's the Theatre Puget Sound Stage hosting regional theatre acts, an Australian performance arts company who does their circus/dance thing on stilts, and the Pacific Northwest Ballet, along with "Wonderboy," a collaboration between San Francisco-based choreographer Joe Goode and New York-based puppeteer Basil Twist. We're guessing that "Wonderboy"'s puppeteering is going to be more Being John Malkovich than Team America.

And as always, there's the 1 Reel Film Festival, and the sixth year of music poster exhibition Flatstock. Bumbershoot's super-sized comedy program (which expanded from one to three venues last year) is still in effect, though no acts have yet been announced.

The three-day passes for $60 are long gone, but you can still get a festival pass for $80 until August 15th (it goes up to $100 after then). Single-day tix go on sale July 15th for $35, or $40 after August 15th.
