JetBlue Bringing California Sunshine to Seattle

The trendy boutique airlines are into Seattle, and we are loving it. (Sorry Alaska Airlines!) We reported back to you about a luxurious flight down to San Francisco courtesy of the new Virgin America Airlines. With today's news, we hope to be writing you a first-hand report of a JetBlue flight soon. Starting this May, JetBlue will begin non-stop service from Seattle to San Diego, Los Angeles, and Long Beach, Calif.

Similar to Virgin America, JetBlue only sells one-way fares but offers amenities unheard of on most major carriers. JetBlue's new E190 serving Seattle offers DirectTV, XM radio stations, Fox in-flight movies, and, most interestingly, the promise of "no middle seat." We would seriously consider paying the round-trip fare just to see how they fulfill this promise. A flight without middle seats? Sounds like heaven to this claustrophobe.

Convenient that this announcement comes the day before Virgin America starts its LAX-SEA route....

I find the phrasing of this curious. JetBlue has been flying out of Seattle for many years. The SEA > NYC route has been the staple of several of my East Coast friends ever since they started. Okay, so they announced SEA to SoCal routes...big whoop. JetBlue is nothing new, that's for sure.

my bad saxtor, I don't fly much. I didn't realize they already had routes out of Seattle and the stories I used for information didn't make that clear.

They won't have middle seats because they will be flying the smaller plane, Embraer ERJ-190, which I've flown up and down the east coast. They only have 2 seats on each side of the plane, but comfortable ones at that. This ain't your Horizon Air prop plane.

I have an Alaska Air credit card and a Jetblue credit card, maybe it's time to get rid of one.

Like Saxtor said Yes they have been in service for awhile in SEA. They currently also fly to Boston.

I'm a homer as wish they flew Boeing planes vs. an all airbus fleet. Oh well.

"No middle seat" means smaller airplanes with less headroom, not larger seats. If you're claustrophobic, a narrower tube may be worse for you.

I stand corrected. Didn't realize they also fly the ERJ-190. Thanks.

Everyone on the inaugural jetBlue flights from San Diego and from Long Beach will get a free copy of the Seattle TourSaver (www.seattletoursaver.com). Kewl.
