Heads Up: Radiohead at (sigh) White River Amphitheatre

thom%20yorke.jpg

Keeping in line with last week's rumors, the official word came in this morning that yes, Radiohead would be playing the Seattle area on August 20th, and yes, the show would take place at the middle-of-nowhere shit venue White River Amphitheatre. Expected, but still disappointing. Look, even Thom is upset.

Dates and venues have been confirmed for the second leg of Radiohead's upcoming North American tour. They are:

August 1 - Lollapalooza - Chicago, IL
August 3 - Verizon Wireless Music Center - Indianapolis, IN
August 4 - Blossom Music Center - Cleveland
August 6 - Parc Jean Drapeau - Montreal, QC
August 8 - All Points West Music & Arts Festival/Liberty State Park – Jersey City, NJ
August 9 - All Points West Music & Arts Festival/Liberty State Park – Jersey City, NJ
August 12 - Susquehanna Bank Center - Camden, NJ
August 13 - Tweeter Center For the Performing Arts - Mansfield, MA
August 15 - Molson Amphitheatre - Toronto, ON
August 19 - Thunderbird Stadium - Vancouver, BC
August 20 - White River Amphitheatre - Auburn, WA
August 22 - Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival @ Golden Gate Park – San Francisco, CA
August 24 - Hollywood Bowl - Los Angeles, CA
August 25 - Hollywood Bowl - Los Angeles, CA
August 27 - Cricket Wireless Amphitheatre - Chula Vista, CA
August 28 - Santa Barbara Bowl - Santa Barbara, CA

To make matters worse, we don't even get Grizzly Bear as the opener on our stop of the tour (they're playing the August 3-15 dates). Nope, we get Liars, who, everybody knows, has a live performance track record that is tenuous at best.

Tickets are $35 and $55 (plus service charges and fees) and go on sale Saturday, April 12 at 10:00 a.m. at all Ticketmaster outlets, Ticketmaster.com or livenation.com, or charge by phone (206) 628-0888. Presale starts this Wednesday, April 9, and if you've got the password, please share.

I would've peed my pants to see Radiohead and Grizly Bear, even at White River. But you better believe I will also be paying the premium price to see Radiohead and the Liars at White River. Thom Yorke is worth the traffic jam, tenfolds.

heh thom looks so disappointed at having to play at white river in that photo. love it! i'm happy to make the trek to dumb white river to see radiohead--it ain't perfect, but it'll still be a killer show.

Chundersticks! I saw Radiohead at White River a few years ago and even though Mr. Yorke sang into a tiny camera on his piano, it did not make up for WR being the worst place to see a show outside of the Republican National Convention.

Ooooh, I said it!

I was at that show as well, admiralzing, and agreed on all counts. As I recall, I spent about as much time watching Radiohead as I did afterwards in the parking lot attempting to leave the venue.

What happened to the Gorge? Does HOB care about anyone besides DMB anymore? Weak.

I'm taking 8/20 off, do some shopping at the Boney Lake Target (heck yeah!), and approaching WR from the South. Coming in from Auburn is a joke.
