Kristy Lee Cook Didn't Slaughter Her Dolly Song
It could've gone either way last night. Lord knows, in American Idol history, rockers have been labeled rockers only to blow rock week, country singers blow country week, R&B singers blow disco....but not this year, nosiree. Kristy Lee Cook, who our friends have started calling this year's Sanjaya-in-waiting, delivered on country week.
The mentor was Dolly Parton—the nicest woman on the planet. She was even nice to Ramiele, who clearly didn't bring it on her version of "Do I Ever Cross Your Mind." Meanwhile, KLC did "Coat of Many Colors"—not exactly the most ornate of vocal parts, but she worked it. She got all dressed up like a (really hot) hippie, barefeet and all, and delivered. (Of course, then she made us annoyed a little bit when she got all cheeky with Simon, but whatever.) Check it:
Other people who delivered this week: everyone else. Clearly Dolly's sunshine helped with the feel-good vibes this week. Both Carly and Archuleta were amazing, of course. When you feel good about yourself, you sing better, or something. So, our prediction for (who should be in) the bottom three this week: Brooke White, Michael Johns, Ramiele Malubay. All decent vocals, all boring performances.

Ramiele must go. The dancing is so annoying and she's too karaoke. Syesha can go too. Her ego makes her unappealing. I actually liked Michael's performance last night and thought he sounded really good.

i was glad to see michael step out of what has been, until now, his three-note vocal range. regardless, he has yet to do anything that impresses or surprises me. somehow, nonetheless, i believe he'll make it to the top 5.
