Weekend Music
As previously mentioned, tonight's Wig Bash at the High Dive, as well as the second, final, and sold-out performance of Nada Surf at the Showbox. Also sold out: Springsteen at Key Arena Saturday. But never fear, there's still other options out there, like Golem at Nectar tomorrow night. We don't know much about them, but we've heard that the six-piece klezmer band play "Eastern European drinking songs" and that they're "fun as hell." That's enough for us to make a recommendation.
This weekend also offers, not one, not two, but three--three!--performances by José González at the Triple Door (two Saturday and one Sunday). He is one hard-working Swedish-Argentinian troubadour.
For something completely different, tomorrow night also offers the double entendre-laden, post-punk songs of garage band Louis XIV, along with new-wavey pop openers What Made Milwaukee Famous (who are actually from Austin) at Chop Suey. Here's a fencing-happy video from the latter.
And finally, Sunday night head to Ballard for the out-there alt-country blues-rock of Jim White at the Tractor.
