Seahawks Lock Down NW Native Trufant
The Seattle Seahawks announced this morning the signing of Northwest native and starting cornerback Marcus Trufant. The Wilson High (Tacoma) and Washington State University alum inked a long-term deal last night, according to the Seahawks, for $50.2 million over six years. Trufant was previously designated as the Seahawks' franchise player, which would have resulted in a one-year $9.5 million salary, but luckily a long-term deal was locked up.
Even more impressive is Trufant's ability to juggle contract negotiations and his upcoming wedding scheduled for this Saturday. The new contract caps an impressive year for the 27-year-old, who nabbed seven interceptions this year and received his first invite to the Pro Bowl.
The Seahawks have completed a number of signings on the defensive side of the ball, bringing back linebacker D.D. Lewis and defensive lineman Chris Cooper, along with locking up Lofa Tatupu to a long-term deal in the past week.

Got to love the Washington born and raised NFL talent.
Between Trufant and Kitna that's a lot of money going to Tacoma talent these days.
