"Modern Pirate Ship" by Rasmus Rasmussen

seattlest_pix--08mar21-85.jpg

We don't get out to Fortress West Seattle as much as we'd like to or as much as it deserves. It might have something to do with its limited land routes into the place. But perhaps subconsciously we knew that it is protected by fierce pirates--which could explain our secret affinity.

This land yacht--with sunroof and a Landau top, such luxury!--reminds us of the very first family car that we remember, a 1973 Oldsmobile Toronado. Mark our words: passenger cars of the future will once again reach this size. They will burn less fuel than today's hybrids, emit fewer pollutants than even electric cars, and, to appropriate Professor Frink's words, be so expensive that only the five richest kings of Europe will be able to own them. Until then, these boats will be all about rum, sodomy, and the lash.

There are seven or eight of these rusting land yachts, all parked next to each other, at 183rd and Aurora Ave N.
