Kapow! Here's Your Overpriced Coffee

Ride the SLUT
Those folks responsible for the "Ride the S.L.U.T." t-shirts--the fine, tiny coffee vendor next to Taco Del Mar in the SoLa neighborhood (or is it SoLu?)--are going to be charging you more from here on out. Kapow! Coffee is paying the price of gentrification, condos and slutty streetcars. According to the Times, the 200-square-feet of splendid coffee making real estate has been feeling the push-and-pull of larger nearby coffee vendors and the sudden boom of SoLa building.

Says the Times:

"The rent tripled, but there isn't triple the business," said owner Angela Baker, who declined to say how much she pays for the space that used to be a storage garage. Munro Family Trust owns the space, according to King County property records.

In other words, rent is higher, coffee's more expensive, milk is more expensive. So, it's cave to the man or close up shop. We really like their little garage-like space, so hopefully this'll help them survive the building boom. They're also still selling t-shirts, as well as mugs and other items emblazoned with the "Ride the S.L.U.T." logo.
