NCAA Dance-Off: Gonzaga Bulldogs vs. Davidson Wildcats

micahdowns.jpgTomorrow morning the No. 7 seed Gonzaga Bulldogs face the No. 10 seed Davidson Wildcats, game time is 9:25am on CBS. Gonzaga has an impressive resume of non-conference opponents, losing games to Wazzu, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Memphis (all by 10 points or less), and winning against Western Kentucky, Georgia, Saint Joseph's and UConn. What do these eight teams all have in common? They're all in the NCAA Tournament.

The Zags' 25-7 record is inflated by a 13-1 conference record in the West Coast Conference, which surprisingly has three teams in the tournament (San Diego and St. Mary's are the other two).

Davidson (26-6 overall, 20-0 in conference play) hasn't lost a game since 2007 (Dec. 21 to be exact) and have a rather impressive non-conference schedule as well, which includes UNC, Duke, and UCLA (all losses though). The Wildcats will go the way of their guard tandem of Stephen Curry and Jason Richards.

If Gonzaga can get Josh Heytvelt and Micah Downs contributing on the offensive side, it should open up opportunities for the rest of the team, especially Matt Bouldin from 3. Freshman stud Austin Daye will also play an important role to help shut down Curry, who shoots 43.8 percent from 3-point range. Gonzaga can't sneak up on teams anymore, and many think Davidson could be the right fit for the glass slipper this year.

The improved WCC could have provided the added intensity down the stretch for Gonzaga to make a run in the Big Dance, but the real question is if the loss to San Diego in the WCC Championship still lingers…que up the Zags' favorite dance music "Zombie Nation".
