Kristy Lee Spared...Again

Well, America, it's starting to look like Kristy Lee is the new Sanjaya, albeit with about 100 times more actual talent. She keeps winding up in the bottom two or three, and then getting spared. We're not sure how much longer that can possibly go on, but we're happy to keep filling you in on the drama.

First off, a note about this week's bottom three. In our opinion, the three worst performances were given by Jason Castro, Michael Johns, and Kristy Lee Cook. We have great love for Carly Smithson, whose voice is one of the best and most versatile the show has seen in a long time. She tackled our very favorite Beatles song (possibly our favorite song ever) and did it damn well. And yet she wound up in the bottom three. What the hell? Also in the bottom three was one of the most naturally gifted performers we've ever seen on the show. Amanda Overmeyer wasn't always in the pocket vocally, but sometimes that's okay when you own the damn stage the way she did week after week. Witness:

And now about KLC. We're not just saying this because she's hot. Girlfriend really does have a nice set of pipes. She just looks terrified onstage and hasn't quite figured out how to pick the right song yet. Maybe next week's theme will be more familiar to her? Maybe she'll bring it and blow all our minds on a song that she actually knows? Yikes, we don't know, but we're not wavering from our stance that we'd rather just watch Carly Smithson and David Archuleta for ten weeks, without any other mediocre distractions.

So, yeah. Goodbye, Amanda Overmeyer, dammit. That lady's gonna have a hell of a career, with or without this stupid karaoke show (to which we're hopelessly addicted).

I actually really dug Amanda. She reminded me of Etta James. Sure, most of the time she growled indecipherably but you're right, she was a great performer. I am utterly flabbergasted as to why Ramielle has never been in the bottom three. Talk about karaoke!

This has been a horrible season. Each week I am consistently amazed that they can scour the nation and these are the top performers.

Seriously, don't millions of people audition for this show?

KLC has been terrible for the past couple weeks and Amanda's lack of any talent finally caught up with her. Did she really think that another performance of growling/mumbling the song would get her through?

Aside from the ringers (Carly and David Cook), David A. is probably the only one that has talent, but he should have been burned after that disgusting performance last week.

At least Chikezie is actually trying out there. He won't win (and I'm not saying he should), but "She's a Woman" was one of the better performances in Idol history.
