Won't You Be My Neighbor?

Tomorrow, Thursday 20th March, would have been Fred Rogers' 80th birthday. In his honor, Family Communications, the non-profit he founded, is asking you to wear your favorite sweater:
We're asking everyone everywhere--from Pittsburgh to Paris--to wear their favorite sweater on that day... It doesn't have to have a zipper down the front like the one Mister Rogers wore on the program,it just has to be special to you.
These festivities are all part of Won't You Be My Neighbor? Days, or WYBMND for short. Although the endeavor is home-based in Pittsburgh, we think there's a lot to take away from Fred Rogers and apply locally. Alert readers will notice that WYBMND is almost letter for letter the reverse, and a direct refutation, of NIMBY.
Although we couldn't all appeal to Mister Rogers (begins about 4m:34s) directly, we can put it on our (sweatered) shoulders to be more neighborly. Our neighborhoods would be much better if we were a bit less NIMBY and a bit more WYBMN.
