Get Out Saturday: Born Ruffians, Cadence Weapon @ High Dive

Been a while since we've been out for a truly good time on a Saturday night. We want music, but not just any music. Something upbeat and a little crazy. Something that'll leave us sweaty and exhilarated when it's all over. Lots going on this weekend, sure, but one show in particular shines bright through a crowded calendar.

It's a triple threat of great music this Saturday night at High Dive in Fremont.

First off, for excellent Brit-influenced pop-rock, get there early for Portland, Oregon's The Village Green.

Next up, (a do-not-miss) coming to you from Alberta, Canada, is Cadence Weapon. Admittedly, we've never been good at labeling musicians as this or that, especially when we feel a musician is truly exceptional. But the people want to know what to expect, right? So here you go. According to his MySpace page, CW is hip hop, disco house, and IDM (Intelligent Dance Music). Sure, why not? All we know is we love this brand of hip hop; crazy sounds, nasty beats, inventive lyrics. Be sure to check out the video for "Sharks" after the jump.

Should you find yourself stuck in a bear trap and unable to see the first two performers, now is the time to get it over with and gnaw that leg off and crawl or hop to Fremont for the night's headliner, Born Ruffians (another of Toronto's seemingly endless supply of amazing bands). We have the utmost faith in these guys' ability to deliver the kind of hellacious, wildly sonic good times which we need so desperately. Not trying to be dramatic. We've just felt a little couped up lately.
