Heads Up: Three-Day Music Festival in Pemberton, BC

This year if Sasquatch just ain't your thing, there's an upcoming brand-new music festival hosted by our neighbors to the north. Yes indeedy, this summer marks the first-ever Pemberton Festival, to be held July 25-27 in Pemberton, British Columbia. Considering it's their first year, this little baby music fest has rounded up some big names, including Coldplay, Tom Petty, Nine Inch Nails, Jay-Z, Interpol, Death Cab, Flaming Lips, and Vampire Weekend. There'll be two stages and a dance tent to house the 50+ bands playing the fest over all three days. Here's the confirmed line-up so far:

Coldplay, Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers, Nine Inch Nails, Jay-Z, The Tragically Hip ,The Flaming Lips, Serj Tankian, Death Cab For Cutie, Interpol, My Morning Jacket, Sam Roberts Band, Metric, Black Mountain, Vampire Weekend, The Crystal Method DJ Set, DJ Shadow & Cut Chemist, Booka Shade, Junkie XL, Dave Seaman, Wintersleep, Buck 65, Secret Machines, SIA, MSTRKRFT, Deadmau5, Brazilian Girls, MGMT, The Fiery Furnaces, Mates Of State, Grand Ole Party, Carolina Liar, The Airborne Toxic Event, Monte Negro, Low VS Diamond, Annie Stela, M.A.N.D.Y., Tommie Sunshine, Chromeo, 3 OH! 3, Kevin Shiu, Timeline, Tony Pantages

We've never been, but Pemberton is located two hours from Vancouver (right by Whistler) and is supposed to be absolutely breathtaking. Given the venue's proximity to nature, it looks like the promoters are going above and beyond the call to keep the festival green, even greener than Sasquatch:

With artists performing with majestic snow-capped mountains as their backdrop, every effort is being made to produce the festival with as little impact on the environment as possible. Hydro-electric energy will be the main power source for the festival's energy, and the festival will promote carpooling with the incentive that cars coming in with 4 or more people will be able to park for free. And local Pemberton Valley farm products, which the area is well known for, will be served throughout the 360-acre festival site. A farmer's market -- where local farmers can sell their goods directly to concert-goers -- is even being planned for the site.

Tickets for the Pemberton Festival (early bird price $239.50 CDN, plus fees and service charges) go on sale Friday, March 28th at 10am. As to accommodations, take your pick of the onsite camping facilities or RV park, or hit up a motel in Pemberton or a veddy nice hotel in Whistler. You certainly don't have those kinds of options at the Gorge.
