Can't Miss It: St. Patrick's Day Edition

Shamrock.jpgDAYTIME MUSIC: The venerable Kell's down in Post Alley is having a St. Patrick's Day Festival (10am-2am, $20), with an all-day line-up of Irish music. So is downtown's Fado (10am-2am, $15, with $10 gift certificate for next visit). Over in Ballard, Conor Byrne opens at noon, with live traditional Irish music starting at three. At 8pm, they modernize the music with DJ Mapes's collection of Pogues, U2, Thin Lizzy, Waterboys, Stiff Little Fingers, Boomtown Rats, and Van Morrison songs. (3pm-2am, $10).

NIGHTTIME MUSIC: Fremont's High Dive (7pm, FREE), Ballard's Tractor Tavern (8pm, $7), Capitol Hill's Comet Tavern (8pm, $6), and Queen Anne's Funhouse (9:30pm, $5) all have St. Patrick's Day bills.

FAMILY FESTIVAL: The Irish Week Festival at Seattle Center runs from noon to 4pm today. Besides the ubiquitous booths selling Irish and Celtic products, there'll be Irish music, singing, step-dancing, workshops, lectures, cultural displays, and children's contests. For the more sober-minded, there are genealogy workshops, Irish language workshops, and cultural exhibits.
