Weekend Music
Things are pretty dead, what with all the local music folk in Austin. Here's your limited options:
Saturday night, everybody's favorite Portland country-blues-punkabilly duo Hillstomp brings their buckets and slide guitar to the Tractor for what's sure to be a rambunctious rainy night in Ballard.
Sunday night, Manchester Orchestra (neither from Manchester, nor an orchestra) plays Neumo's. We could not give a good goddamn about the other three bands on the bill (including headliners Say Anything), but Manchester Orchestra does moody yet catchy indie rock right.
Sunday night also offers the chance to nosh well and check out some bands. The Showbox SoDo is hosting the Seattle Soundbite, in which 15 local restaurants (Café Campagne, Coastal Kitchen, El Gaucho, Lark, Palace Kitchen, Purple Café & Wine Bar, Quinn's, Ray's Café, Red Door, Serafina, Southlake Grill, Tango, Tavolata, Via Tribunali and Volunteer Park Café) serve gourmet street food while 7 bands (featuring food service workers) perform. Tix are $15 (save $3 using an online code or a Caffe Vita postcard), with proceeds going to the Vera Project and ProStart.
