Man, the ferry system is really having a time of it this year. First they realize that 80-year-old ferries might not be seaworthy or even worth fixing. Then no one wanted to buy a used ferry on eBay and mechanical issues put a ferry on the Pt. Defiance route out of commission earlier this month.
And let us not forget the Ferry in a Storm pictures that were emailed around last fall.
Now King 5 brings us the story of a ferry captain under investigation for looking at online porn in the pilot house of his ferry:
According to The Herald of Everett, which cited an unidentified source, the probe began after a ferry worker refused to work in the pilot house, accusing a captain of creating a hostile work environment by viewing porn over the wireless Internet connection.
It's not as stupid as, say a governor using a hooker service or anything, but how stupid do you have to be to think that it's okay to look at porn on a state-owned computer while commanding a state-owned ferry? Granted, it's probably not brain surgery to get one of those things from Point A to Point B in calm weather, but if you're bored, may we suggest a local blog or two?
Oh, there's also a criminal investigation going on over accusations of a surveillance camera found in an employee-only bathroom on another ferry.
Remember the problems that ferry had? Thanks for the shot of the rusting Kalakala, Espressobuzz. We found it in our Flickr Pool.
