FRIDAY ART: Roq la Rue and its sister gallery BLVD are having joint openings tonight. At Roq la Rue, San Francisco artist Robert Burden explores the joys and soulless commercialism of the toybox. At BLVD, Wastelands and Wilderness features new work by Parskid and Chip 7. Parskid's work evokes the mystical dark forests of the Pacific NW, while Chip 7's work is a paranoid exploration of sci-fi fantasy and globalism. FRIDAY ART & MUSIC BENEFIT: Artifakt is taking over the Lo_Fi Performance Gallery to host a benefit party for Gilda's Young Professionals of Seattle. Attend and win Mariners' tickets, Artifakt gear, and even Botox (srsly), while viewing the art of Chris Vena, Kate Protage, Shai Steiner, Caleb Freese, Andrea Wicklund and Jesse Edwards. Beats courtesy of Zulu Nation affiliates DJ Hail and WD4D. The Hidden Habitat crew and DJs Kristina Childs, Dash, SmartBomb and Andrew Luck will provide beats in both fully stocked bars all night.
WEEKEND THEATRE: RK Production's Reefer Madness continues its run at Live Girls Theater this Friday and Saturday nights. A comic musical adaptation of the stoner cult flick, Reefer Madness offers a nearly perfect blend of scantily clad dancers, pot humor and sex romp to entertain the most adamantly anti-musical people. Young Jimmy Harper is sweet on Mary Lane, but when he needs to learn to learn to dance, evil pot-pusher Jack snags himself a new a reefer addict, as Jimmy descends into a netherworld of jazz music, interracial orgies and cold-blooded murder.

SUNDAY MUSIC BENEFIT: As part of its grand opening, the Northwest African American Museum honors Quincy Jones (and his 75th year on the planet) with its first-ever Lifetime Achievement Award. With performances from Carlos Santana, James Ingram & Band, Ernestine Anderson, Clarence Acox & Seattle Repertory Jazz Orchestra, and the Garfield Jazz Band. The roof is going to be on fire early on. Be ready for that.
