On Tap for the Weekend: Hard Liver Barleywine Festvial

This Seattlest's liver already hurts just thinking about all the beers we're going to try this weekend. Granted, the Hard Liver Festival at Brouwer's Cafe in Fremont officially runs all week. But, some of the good stuff will be gone before the afternoon is out on the opening day this Saturday (Doors at 11am). But, if you don't like crowds, don't come on Saturday....it will most likely be packed by noon.
The sixth annual Hard Liver Festival is Brouwer's chance to shine on the annual rotation of barleywine festivals that goes around Seattle, and the country in general. For those of you that have not been paying attention the past month, March is barleywine heaven in Seattle. This festival follows up events at Collins Pub and Beveridge Place Pub, both of which had some great beers. But, this one promises to top them both.
Our plan is to drink the hell out of the barleywine this weekend, and then we probably will have had enough of these huge beers to last us a while. We'll drink nothing but straight Pils after that, we promise (yeah, right).
There are so many great beers that we're not even sure what to be extra excited about. In addition to any special surprises, we'll be looking forward to Bourbon Aged Bigfoot from Sierra Nevada, all the different versions of Doggie Claws from Hair of the Dog and Walking Man Old Stumblefoot.
Previous winners included Lagunitas Gnarleywine '04(2007 winner), Hair of the Dog Doggie Claws(2006 winner) and Midnight Sun Arctic Devil(2005 winner).
See you there?
