Jennifer Aniston Shooting Movie in Seattle Today (or not)

movietrailers004.jpg
After Seattlest arrived at the office today, saw all of these big white trailers across the street, and had our little "Well, this is unusual" moment of tilted equilibrium, we got curious. Is this another episode of our friendly German invasion of last August?

Not so, apparently. We asked the security guard in our lobby if he knew what was up. He said, "They're going to shoot a movie today." Then he smiled and said, "Jennifer Aniston is here."

Recalling that our security guard is a known liar, we wrinkled our face and moved on to quiz our co-workers.

"Did you hear?" one said. "Jennifer Aniston is shooting a movie at the market today." Two others confirmed the rumor. One guy said he heard it not from the lying security guard, but from the news. "Where on the news, did you hear it?" we asked. "Oh, I don't know. The radio. Or maybe it was on TV."

So there you have it Seattle. According to our security guard and three co-workers, the beautiful and talented Jennifer Aniston is shooting a movie at Pike Place Market today.

Can anyone confirm this? We'll do our best to stay on top of it without getting fired or breaking our restraining order. (Is it our fault that she came here?)

UPDATE: Confirmed! Theatre Puget Sound has a post advertising for "paid extras" for the shoot.

UPDATE: A Seattlest spy has sent us a copy of the business notice (after the jump).

UPDATE: The PI is reporting that Aniston is not (according to her publicist) in Seattle this week (but there have been sightings of co-star Aaron Eckhart).

We will be filming in the Market

Where: March 12, 2008
When: 6:00 AM until 9:00 PM
What: Opening scenes for the movie “Traveling”

Traveling Film Productions will be filming the opening sequence for a new motion picture in the Pike Place Market. We are working with the Market PDA, the Mayor’s Office of Film and Music and the Seattle Police and Fire Departments for permitting and hope to enlist your cooperation to successfully and quickly complete our day in the Market.

We will be working closely with you to accommodate any needs or concerns you have that may affect you and be filming 3 different scenes during our day here:

Pike Place between Stewart and Virginia: 6:00 AM-6:00 PM

This is the major element of our day. We would like to create a scene in which a cab is stuck in traffic and the passenger gets out to walk to his hotel only to have a downpour drive him back into the cab.

This scene will require the closure of Pike Place between Stewart and Virginia, Virginia between 1st and Western. During this period vehicular traffic in the market will have to exit via Stewart. Additionally, Stewart westbound off of 1st will be closed. This set up is similar to events held in the market like the Chili Cook-off.

Pedestrian traffic will be held intermittently during actual filming. No one will be prevented from entering a place of business, accessing a meeting, their apartment etc. for any extended period of time.

It will be necessary to create a traffic jam, turning Pike Place and Virginia into two way streets. We will utilize both parking strips and vehicle lanes on both streets.

Cranes holding rain making rigs will be placed near Virginia and Western in such a manner that they are not seen by camera. When the passenger exits the cab, he will walk forward a few car lengths and the rain will start to fall driving him back into the cab. The area of rainfall will be approximately from the end of the north arcade to Western.

Post alley traffic will not be affected.

Access to parking garage entrances on Virginia will not be affected except that vehicles accessing them will need to enter off 1st Avenue pulling the wrong way down Virginia. Seattle Police officers will be stationed at 1st Avenue to facilitate the movement of traffic. Vehicles exiting will not be affected.

Post Alley between 1st and Union: 6:00 PM-8:00 PM

We would like to film two people waking down Post Alley by the gum wall.

It will be necessary to close Post Alley to vehicular traffic while we are filming, pedestrian traffic will be held intermittently.

The entrance to the Market: 8:00 PM- 9:00 PM

We would like to film two people crossing Pike between the News stand and the Sanitary Market.

Camera will be at the corner near Seattle’s Best and vehicular and pedestrian traffic will be held intermittently on 1st Avenue.

We understand the importance of the market and will portray it in a very sensitive and positive light. We also understand the enormous amount of merchant cooperation we are asking for. It is our intention to make this a positive experience for market visitors and businesses and will do everything in our power to do so and to accommodate your needs. We will be working with you to make sure that any scheduled deliveries are completely provided for.

Please feel free to contact me or James Keblas, Director of the Mayor’s Office of Film and Music with any questions or concerns you may have.

Thank you very much for your cooperation.

I work in the First & Stewart building, and we received notice about this a couple of weeks ago. The film is called Traveling and, yes, it stars Jennifer Aniston and Aaron Eckhart. Personally, I'd rather run into the latter, but I wouldn't mind asking Aniston what it was like to work with Gary Cole in Office Space.

What? Jen-jen said she was coming just to hang out with me.

See if I return her texts. Pfff.

Movie stars, meh. This picture, though, is fantastic.

The billboard: awesome. The security guard and the little hut things on the left: great. The sole black car that someone can't manage to park properly: typical. The person on the right in mid-stride or perhaps trying to hold it in while observing the lot: nice.

I think Jennifer's trailer is the second one from the left. It says, "welcome"... I think I will go knock.

i can confirm that a commercial came on in the middle of the biggest loser last night, and the local news said something about jennifer aniston being here today. see, you watch reality tv, you get a leg up on everything!

That is a truely awesome picture.

Bigger Story--There are still pay phones in Seattle!?!?!

Saw this precariously jacked up truck this morning down by Pike Place Market. Lots of movie crew people milling about.

they are currently filming a scene with Aaron Eckhart by the market right now. It is a lot of him running through a faux traffic jam. It looks like they are getting ready for the rain shot soon

If anyone's interested, I went down there during lunch and took a few photos.

Also, if anyone cares, author of Your Child's Strengths, Jennifer Fox is also in town. There's a documentary being shot about her as we speak in North Belltown.
