Can't Miss It: Tuesday
JAZZ: Dr. John kicks off a 6-night run at Dimitriou's Jazz Alley, giving audiences the benefit of a life studded with "troubles at home." Singing about New Orleans before, during, and after it was cool, he created a musical love letter to the city of New Orleans in 2004, "N’awlinz Dis Dat or D’udda," and won an award from the Académie Charles Cros at their 57th awards ceremony. He may be most famous as his muppet alter ego, Dr. Teeth.
CLUBS: Tuesday is "I Love the '80s" night at the Noc Noc, with dj shane summoning up the ghosts of synths and drum machines past. What can be said about the transformative life experience that is '80s night that hasn't already been said? "Sweet dreams are made of this." The Noc Noc has 1180 MySpace friends. That's a lot of skinny ties!
9pm-2am // Noc Noc, 1516 2nd Ave // No cover
WINE: No one we know is going to this as the $195 price tag is a little steep, but it sounds like a night to remember. The Georgian (which has a very well-reviewed afternoon tea, by the way) is hosting the 5th annual Women in Wine dinner. The evening features five of Washington’s female vintners and their award-winning wines--selected by Master Sommelier Joseph Linder and paired with a dinner by Executive Chef Gavin Stephenson. There are five courses total, this is just the first course:
Smoked Wild Spring King Salmon with Dungeness Beignets and White Sturgeon Roe, Corn Bread
2006 àMaurice Cellars Chardonnay, Columbia Valley
Anna Schafer
6pm // The Georgian, 411 University St // $195
The listed events were chosen by the editors of Seattlest and brought to you by the 2009 Toyota Corolla.
