A 10-year-old boy from Everett is in critical condition at Children's Hospital after being buried head-first in a sandbox this weekend. Cody Porter was playing in the backyard of a family friends home with his brothers and a few other children when the accident occurred Saturday afternoon.

Cody and his friends were thought to be inspired by a cartoon, "Narutu," where characters use sand as a tool and weapon. Whether inspired by a cartoon or a 10-year-old's imagination, Cody was buried head-first to roughly his torso in a backyard sandbox.

He was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, though he is now receiving care at Children's Hospital. Cody's family says his prognosis is not good. Snohomish County Detectives interviewed Cody's playmates and adults at the scene, but say no crime was committed....just a tragic accident.
