Stay Out Of Denver
We here at Seattlest like to provide our readers with valuable advice when we think it’s necessary. Two blog posts we’ve seen today make us think it’s important to advise that you stay the hell away from Denver.
First, according to the New York Times blog The Lede, in November, the city’s voters passed a law similar to Seattle’s that makes pot the city’s "lowest law-enforcement priority." Well, it seems that the cops in Denver don’t care much for what voters say:
[P]recisely the opposite has happened. More people are being arrested these days than before the measures passed, according to one disappointed backer who spoke to The Denver Post.
The problems you could encounter in Denver could start as soon as you step foot in the airport however (where we definitely don’t think you should have any weed since crossing state lines makes having it a federal crime and no one wants to deal with that).
At DIA, they have free wireless Internet access. But they censor it. According to The Big Blog:
What kinds of sites are they worried about? Vanity Fair, perezhilton.com and boingboing.net are among the many. Sports Illustrated's swimsuit photos? No dice, even though the magazine is prominently available in the gift shops at the airport.
BoingBoing? What the heck is wrong with BoingBoing? Anyway, stay out of Denver. You’ll have more fun.
Thanks to iamdonte for the great picture. We found it in the Seattlest Flickr Pool.
