Can't Miss It: Tuesday
MUSIC: If you're not heading to the Gutter Twins, maybe try another direction. Almost exactly two years ago, we went to hear Trespassers William and their psychedelic folk pop. Said Audrey, "with the band's varied instrumentation and singer Anna-Lynne Williams' steady, hollow voice, their sound is haunting and hypnotic."
The question is, have they found a hook to hang a song on? You make the call--check out one of their newest songs on the MySpace before you go.
FILM: IMDBers give Endurance: Shackleton's Legendary Expedition 8 out of 10 stars, which probably has no bearing on how good the IMAX movie Shackleton's Antarctic Adventure is. But since we saw the earlier film, we can tell you that being on polar explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton's 1914-1916 British Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition would have sucked serious Slushee. The crew lived nearly two years in the Antarctic after their ship, Endurance, was frozen in the ice and crushed. With the new IMAX film, you can retrace their steps and the only crushed ice will be in your soda.
11:30am, 1:30 & 3:30pm // Seattle Center Eames IMAX Theater // Tickets: $8.00 general
THEATRE: The solo performance festival at Theatre Off Jackson continues with tonight's Deep Fried Curried Perogies, starring Alberta's Michelle Todd. This particular dish is:
...born when a Jamaican Filipino and a Ukrainian Brit start a family. In this feisty, comedic memoir, Michelle Todd shares the past of her Filipino mother and Jamaican father who left their tropic homelands behind to bring her into the wonderful non-tropic world of Edmonton, Alberta."Non-tropic"! We're laughing already. Poor Canadians and their weather and their newly strong currency.
8pm // Theatre Off Jackson, 409 7th Ave S // Tickets: $15
