Saxtor, that's a crazy website, isn't it?

I'll be in Madison before I'm next in Bellingham. Maybe I'll check out the pelmeni there!

I wasn't terribly impressed either, but damn, it certainly hit the spot.

Reading this, I kept thinking, "Wow, that really sounds like the place in Bellingham..." It seemed like they had a few stores scattered about in random towns, and finally tracked it down. The Juneau Pelmeni shop is the original. They have two others, one in Madison, WI and one in Bellingham, WA. So there you go.

This is the closest they have to a website...

Kris, maybe I'll have to trade you some xiao long bao for some delicious dumplings of the Russian variety!

My girlfriend is a Russian immigrant -- she and her parents came over when she was 8. There is a cottage industry in the Russian community where Russian women make food in large batches and sell it to other Russians -- pelmeni, blini, pirogi, etc. We have a heaps of this in our freezer, as her mother doesn't want her to starve. (For mothers of every culture, stuffing children with yummy food is a biological imperative.) My point is this: if you make the right connections, you can get all sorts of delicious, authentic dumplings in bulk for cheap and enjoy them at home any day, anytime.

There is definately a place in Bellingham, but whether it is a sister store to Juneau I do not know:
