i love the hurricane, as i loved the Dog House before it. The service is mediocre and the food serves the post show, 2 am and Dick's is closed need... as well as the hair dog meal the morning after. Though it is strange strange strange to go there now that it is smoke free. The Hurricane looked even shadier in the shroud of Marlboro smoke.

I am a big fan of The Typhoon there. And c'mon there's pinpball!

I like the hash browns at the Hurricane (so much that I wrote a poem about it http://chtriangle.blogspot.com/2007/12/ways-of-eating-hash-browns.html

I hope that it stays. It's an always handy solution for "Where do you all want to go for breakfast/lunch/snacks/beer/game/anywhere?" question.

Plus, when friends come into town, I just have them meet me there as it is one of the few places easily locatable, easy to navigate to/from/around and has more than ample parking.

"Old mainstay at the corner of 7th and Bell," "age-old dive bar/diner," "really gloomy place to accommodate your gloomy alcoholic thirst."

Us old-timers were saying the same things 14 years ago when the Dog House left this space after 60 years of abusing customers with rude service, nasty drinks, and even nastier coffee.

I miss it still.
