Tired With Ranking Wealth, Forbes Moves on to the Seven Deadly Sins

Forbes Magazine must have gotten tired of making the same "Richest People in the World" list, because the magazine has moved on to ranking the "Nation's Most Sinful Cities." In order to do so, Forbes came up with measurable methods to rank the proclivity for each of the seven deadly sins in America's urban populations.
(For example to measure the sin of "wrath" the magazine used murder rates for cities.)

Of course, you're curious, just as we are - how the hometown stacked up in sinfulness. Seattle ranked as the 3rd greediest, the 4th most lustful, and the 4th most envious city in America. To rank greed the magazine used their own Forbes 400 Lists, which measures the wealthiest individuals in the United States and tracked which of the major urban areas they call home. Joining Seattle in the top three were San Francisco and San Jose/Sunnyvale, CA - who was ranked the greediest of them all. Seattle was launched into the top three of this category, on the shoulder of four very wealthy men who call the Seattle-area home: Bill Gates, Paul Allen, Steve Ballmer and Jeff Bezos. To measure a cities lustfulness, Forbes tracked contraception and condom purchases at local groceries and pharmacies. Topping the lusty list was Denver, CO, which doesn't strike us as the sexiest place in the US, but they apparently purchase nearly 200% more contraception than the expected rate for a city their size. Our neighbors to the south, Portland tied San Antonio, TX for the second most lustful city in the United States. And lastly to rank a cities proclivity for jealousy, Forbes used federal statistics on property crimes. Memphis, TN, Charlotte NC, and San Antonio, TX were the only cities in the US who were greener with envy and who had more property crimes than Seattle.

Besides Denver's high ranking for lustiness, other sinful shockers included: Salt Lake City, UT making a strong showing in lust (#5) and being named the most prideful city in the US. Also surprising, were two Southern California cities ranking in the top 10 for gluttony, the rest of that list was largely composed of Southern cities. It's lucky for Seattle that passive-aggressiveness is not one of the seven deadly sins, we would most definitely sweep that category.
