What with his recent Into the Wild success, it's not a huge surprise that Eddie Vedder's embarking on his first solo tour—announced today—up and down the West coast. What is surprising is that he's not playing Seattle.
Where Eddie is playing:
Apr-02 The Centre Vancouver, BC
Apr-05 SC Civic Aud. Santa Cruz, CA
Apr-07 Zellerbach Th. Berkeley, CA
Apr-10 Arlington Th. Santa Barb, CA
Apr-12 Wiltern Th. Los Angeles, CA
Apr-13 Wiltern Th. Los Angeles, CA
Apr-15 Spreckels Th. San Diego, CA
But, if Pearl Jam's pre-tour warm-up shows are any indication, it's possible their frontman could do the same—say, play the Showbox or Paramount a day or two before the tour proper.
Our fingers are crossed.
As for material, presumably Eddie will cover his laid-back Wild work, but that'll account for all of 30 minutes—not enough (for some) to justify the $65 ticket price. So we're certain he'll pepper his sets with Pearl Jam tunes—slower songs that translate well to acoustic. Liam Finn's presence as the opener further suggests a low-key show.
Will Eddie have "special guests" in tow? Will he take the public opportunities to stump for Nader Clinton Obama democracy?
Who cares. For this Seattlest and our ilk, Eddie Vedder solo is a must-see event. So how about a surprise Seattle tune-up in late March or a tour-capper on Friday, April 18th?
Eddie? Somebody?
Tickets go on sale to the general rabble on Friday, February 29. PJ fan club members get first crack on President's Day.
