Unlike our beloved baseball All Star Game, we’ve tended to skip the NBA's version in recent years. However, with our hero Brandon Roy, in Sunday's game we can’t wait to watch our fellow ex-Bulldog cram some FANtastic™ action down the East’s face. However, we’ll be in Vancouver--sorry TNT.
Local Connections:
Brandon Roy--Played for Garfield High School and the University of Washington. Currently for the Portland Trailblazers.
Steve Nash--Native of Victoria. Then U-Dub coach Lynn Nance declined to recruit him in the early nineties, deciding to stick with Prentiss Perkins...Yeah, remember those days. Just something to think about before you freak out over the Huskies not making the tournament for the second straight year.
Ray Allen--Sonic Guard from 2003 to 2007.
If you can’t wait until Sunday, then get to a TV at 6pm tonight for the Rookies vs. Sophomore game.
Sonics Kevin Durant and Jeff Green will play on the rookie team. Blazers LaMarcus Aldridge and Roy will play for the sophomores. Meanwhile the senior guys and sophomore girls will all be at Greg Mottola's house. His parents are out of town, and there is going to be a ton of booze. You can totally get a ride with us, just take off that vest. You look like Aladdin.
Seattle and Portland both start the second half on Tuesday, with Portland four games out of a playoff spot, and the Sonics hopeless.
