How Not to Get a Lighter Sentence

A Woodinville man accused of driving under the influence, showed up to his court date Monday obviously intoxicated. The 35 year old, Joseph T. Longfellow, had been arrested in December for his involvement in an accident on Route 202. Though Longfellow refused a breathalyzer test in the field, officers suspected he was intoxicated.

Longfellow was scheduled to be sentenced in Redmond on Monday (2/11) for the DUI arrest. However Longfellow, who presumably drove himself to the hearing, arrived at court obviously drunk. The Judge, unimpressed by this all, ordered Longfellow to take a breathalyzer test in court to verify his intoxication. Longfellow blew a 0.32 blood alcohol content, four times over the legal limit to operate a vehicle. The hearing was continued to February 27th and Longfellow was taken to Overlake Hospital for detox.

This wasn't the first time Longfellow has displeased the court. In 2003, as part of sentence for another DUI, Longfellow was fined nearly $2,000. The $1,915 check that Longfellow wrote the court bounced.
