I'm Kim Ruehl, and I Approve This Message

Also lapsing into first person, since that's what my predecessor did.

Honestly, I was waiting until Seth said goodbye for my turn to say hello. So, hello! I'm happy to introduce myself today, now that I'm totally, officially taking over the glorious, glamorous role of Seattlest Editor.

A bit about me: I'm a little shy, the youngest of four. I grew up in a small southern town full of cow-tippin' folk. I spent a lot of years driving around the country by myself. I've been writing for a living, mostly about folk music, for three years now (check me out in Sound and at About.com).

I have a little dog that looks like a Muppet. I'm obsessed with the election, I'm all for Hillary, and I'm not ashamed to admit it. As a child, I learned how to ride horses and tap dance. I can still pull off a double pirouette without falling. I watch an embarrassing amount of reality television, and enjoy reading books about the history of unnecessary everyday items (salt, orchids, corpses).

Now that you know everything there is to know about me, I hope you don't mind if I take over editorial duties at this here blog. I'll be joined by another newbie: Abbey Simmons. You may be familiar with SoundOnTheSound--her other job. She'll be enlightening you several times daily with breaking news, and whatnot. Show her some love.

And so we embark on a new day at Seattlest HQ. Do you think we suck? Think we can do something better? Hit me up: anymedia@gmail.com Now, back to your regularly scheduled posts by the royal we.
