Get Out: "Mame" at 5th Avenue Theater

We're by no means theatre majors, but we do loves to get out for some culture from time to time. Which is why this Thursday we're getting dolled up for the 5th Avenue Theatre's "MAME".

A short summary:

An eccentric socialite in the Roaring '20s finds her madcap Manhattan lifestyle turned upside down when she is appointed guardian of her orphaned nephew. Auntie Mame takes him on one whirlwind adventure after another, proving that "life is a banquet." With a rogue's gallery of memorable characters - plus hilarious encounters with proper society - Mame has touched the hearts and tickled the funnybones of audiences everywhere. The irresistible score includes the title song, "If He Walked Into My Life" and "We Need A Little Christmas."
A preview run of MAME has already begun, with the official opening night being this Thursday at 8pm. Final show, March 2nd.

MAME stars Dee Hoty as our social butterfly, Mame, Richard White as her gentleman friend, Beauregard (which, by the way, we think is an awesome name), and twelve-year-old Nick Robinson as Patrick Dennis, the young boy who brings such upheaval to Mame's "banquet" lifestyle.

The beau monde among you are sure to revel in the "all-singing, all-dancing cast of 39... featuring more than 275 glamorous costumes," while the rest of us will simply get a kick out of Mame's silver tongue and firecracker philosophies on life.
