Hillary Clinton Rocked the House Last Night

(Full disclosure: we're a long-time Hillary supporter, as you probably know by now.)
It may have been held way out in the middle of NOWHERE, and we may have had to risk life and limb, climbing over trains and running across highways to get there, but it was damn well worth it.
Some reports are saying there were 5,000 people there, others are saying more. It was definitely packed. We were definitely sweating our ass off. She was about an hour and a half late getting there, which stemmed from the fact that, it sounds like, her whole schedule that day got started two hours late, or so. But, we all perservered, and it wasn't for naught.
Her smokin' hot assistant was there. Our friend made buttons that said "It takes a woman to beat a Bush," and we were handing them out to everyone around us.
Finally, after an hour and a half, Former Governor Gary Locke got on the mic and was all, in his best wrestling announcer voice, "Are you readyyyyy?" The crowd went nuts. And then he introduced Exec. Ron Sims. Bummer. We love Sims and his super fired up speeches about how Hillary will save the world, but we wanted Hillary, dammit.
He got everyone fired up, though, of course. Then Jay Inslee took the stage and made the same speech we've heard him make before on Hillary's behalf. It was no less true or moving, so that was good.
Then, finally, at long, long last, she came out. The cheers went on for several minutes. She did that thing for the record, for the news cameras, where she pointed out that people were spilling out of the main room, the place was jampacked, and the next room (where we were) was jampacked, too.
Then she lit into her stump speech. Just when we were ready to be bummed that it didn't look like she'd cater it to her Seattle crowd, she started a spirited tribute to all the local industries and companies that have gone green, punctuating each call-out with "It's happening here." And then she tied it into her stellar Clean Energy Plan, saying basically that she's inspired by the local industries that are developing ways to save the planet and save jobs. That she intends to take that insight and inspiration to the White House, where she'll spread it across the country like wildfire. That she'll make sure we have an Apollo-like program focused on cleaning up the environment.
Word.
Her voice was very emotive and personal. She used a lot of "we" and "us," which is a notable change in speech strategy. She also made a couple of pointed jabs at the Obama campaign, claiming that inspiration is so important, but inspiring for the sake of inspiration itself leaves the other jobs of a president hanging. You need to inspire people, to lift them up, and then use that to make not just change but progress.
It was a wonderful speech. There were lots of loud, cheering moments when everyone was all fired up, and plenty of quiet hear-a-pin-drop moments when everyone was touched and moved. She stayed afterward for a good half-hour, or so, making sure she talked to and shook hands with as many people as her hot assistant and intimidating body guards would let her. A huge crowd, including us, encircled her, taking photos on their cell phones, yelling out professions of love and adoration, exclaiming to their friends, "Oh my God, that's her. There she is," and "This is so awesome, so exciting."
Most notably, there were maybe five people over the age of 65 anywhere near us. There were so many young people, so many college kids and first time voters, so many folks our age (30ish)....so take that silly pollsters who say the under-40s are wholly for Obama.
Speaking of which, news from the Obama rally is on its way...
Thanks to Flickr user soggydan for the photo. We never could've snapped one that good from where we were standing.

Man. National Political Figures are always late. You just sort of have to bake it into your expectations, but it's not like you can just show up late.
Oh well, Gary Locke owes us all some favors since he was totally lackluster as Governor and Ron Sims definitely owes me some RTS.
So what's Hillary going to do about getting those two to pay up?
Just out of the Obama rally, and it was most excellent! Photos to come soon.
Also just out of the Obama rally. They filled Key Arena, with several thousand more outside. Insane . . .
the under-40 crowds may not be wholly for Obama, but the under-30 crowd definitely is.
Sorry, Kim, you've become an older person...
Then again the 30-40 crowd VOTES, while the under-30s stay at home with "hope" so maybe there's still a chance for Hill in WA...
"inspiring for the sake of inspiration itself"
Because that's what Obama is all about. She really does play by the old rules. Does she really think that if she just repeats it again and again, people will start believing it?
FWIW, I may have missed it, but Obama's speech included maybe one reference to Clinton, and it was to dispel some negative stuff her campaign staff has been putting out about Obama.
Did she mention why she will not release her tax returns?
oh man....30 = "older person"?
bummer! i guess i'll have to get rid of my ultra low rise jeans. at least i'm still in the under-35 crowd. 35-year-olds are crazy-old.
"35-year-olds are crazy-old."
True dat.
Don't trust anyone over 30!
And also, don't trust people under 25.
And forget about people aged 26-29; they're boring.
