Lapsing into first person alert!
Everyone remarked on how odd it was that the Mariners' trade of Adam Jones, George Sherrill and three prospects to the Orioles for Eric Bedard took so long to get done.
Jones leaked details of the trade to a Venezuelan reporter, which annoyed the Orioles. Even though the deal was essentially finished, we had to wait a couple of weeks for it to be "officially" announced. It finally was, today. Let me be the first to point out that Eric Bedard is going to have his share of female fans.
It was odd, for baseball, how long the trade took to go down, but for the rest of us, it's pretty common.
I've been going through it at work. You get a new job, and you give your two weeks notice, and you finish up your projects, and have lunch one last time at your favorite places, a little going away get-together, and people stop by and say their goodbyes. Which makes sense. We need time to process immediate changes like this.
What's odd is the way baseball normally does it: BOOM. You're traded. Did you just put in a hot tub? Meet a great girl? Buy a boat? Too bad. You're traded to St. Louis. Good luck sailing your yacht through the Arch.
My new job is not nearly that far away. I'm going to be executive editor of a new sports mag, SportsNW. Sadly (for me, perhaps not for you) this means saying goodbye to Seattlest. I'll be keeping up my sports blog, where I'll have much more information about the magazine, which I promise will kick ass.
Meanwhile, Seattlest will continue to kick ass under the editorship of Kim Ruehl, who I hope will introduce herself soon. Peace to you.

good luck!
congratulations and best of luck!
Good luck, Seth. Looking forward to checking out SportsNW.
Bah, I keep getting an internal server error, but it looks like it is posting comments anyway. Is this a ploy to get more comments on your posts??? :P
Thanks for deleting my 8 comments James! :P
Here is what I originally said:
Hey man, I actually created a comment account here just to say goodbye! Thanks for making Seattlest fun to read. Oh, and thanks for posting my pics from flickr so often.
Good luck at your new gig!
I will miss the witty barbs and sports related news! Good luck and congratulations, Seth!
Congrats! Dream job? I thinks so.
