Super (Shrove) Tuesday (Gras) Meal Idea

obama-superman.jpgTonight you have two options; you can either watch Super Tuesday results on the TV, or head down to Pioneer Square with Dax, T-Bone, and a handfull of beads.

Since you're reading this, we can only assume which event you’ll be choosing.

Yet, it’s never a good idea to completely ignore a holiday as delicious as Mardi Gras. Especially because it’s also Shrove Tuesday, which means pancakes. We’ll let Professor Wikipedia explain:

"Shrove Tuesday is known colloquially as Pancake Day. The traditional pancake is slightly thicker than a French crêpe. It is traditionally served with a sprinkling of sugar and a dash of fresh lemon juice."

You don’t want to be like most British people and deprive yourself of all that.

So you’ve got delicious Cajun food and pancakes, what to do?

Might we suggest our meal of choice, creole crepes. It may sound like one of those forced holidays meals on the Seattle Public Schools lunch calendar, which it should because we just made it up the other day.

First you chop up some onions, celery, peppers, parsley, and andouille sausage. Then put all that goodness in a pan, and add some tomato sauce, and cayenne pepper.

While that is grilling, make some crepes (skinny pancakes).

Then…wait for it…put the mix of vegetables and sausage inside your crepes.

With your belly happy and full you can sit back and watch the election coverage, which will hopefully it will put you in the mood to caucus on Saturday. Obama supporters can find their location here, Clinton supporters can go here.

The New Orleans down in Pioneer Square isn't bad for cajun food. Their hush puppies are the bomb, and the fried catfish is pretty damn good too.

Also, I've heard very good things about the Kingfish Cafe, but haven't been yet.

    Link humor... love it.

Slight tangent...does anyone know where to get GOOD Cajun Creole food in Seattle? I just got back from New Orleans and I'm craving the flavor.

    Si, se puede!
