It felt like a veritable love fest inside the elegant Triple Door Wednesday night. Petals of adoration rained down upon the boys of Nada Surf and even with the sold out crowd, it seemed like we recognized more people than not. Bloggers, photographers, local musicians (The Long Winters were in attendance) -- all were there to show love.
The first half of the set was largely focused on new material from the band's fifth LP, Lucky (US release: February 5th), and we could not have been happier about that. We've been streaming Lucky almost nonstop from their MySpace page and have been loving it. It's an album chock full of the kind of perfect indie pop gems the band has become known for.
They didn't only play the new stuff, however. Nada Surf knows their audience and knows they want to hear all the greats from their four previous albums. Our favorite moment of the night had to be the performance of "Blonde on Blonde" from their 2002 release, Let Go. We've literally played that song over and over in our home, in our living room.
Nada Surf return to Seattle March 28th to play the Showbox.
More photos after the jump...

Show openers Port O'Brien played a wonderful set of eclectic folk music. And the bass player told some funny stories between songs.
