I'm with you, Tera. Nothing healthy about a meat egg and cheese breakfast. Might be tasty, but not healthy. Folks should go to one of those drive-through oatmeal shacks. Oh, wait.

Romulus: "Who needs nutritious things like eggs, cheese, meat and vegetables when they can get butter, cream, chocolate, and sugar instead?" I do not think the breakfast sandwiches are that healthy. Granted, they may be slightly better than a 450 calorie blueberry scone, but all the fat, sodium and preservatives = heart attack. I don't think people REALLY believe that anything you order from behind a glass case in a coffee shop is super healthy. Maybe mints.

The sandwiches were the only reason I'd go there in the mornings...otherwise why not drive through one of the ubiquitous coffee huts on every block and get some REAL coffee that's actually handmade by the cup by a real barista? Increasing the average ticket is what all restaurants aspire to. Why sell a $3-$4 coffee when you can also sell a sandwich and bring that average ticket up by $2-$3? People aren't making SBUX a destination to buy CD's. Stole the words right out of my mouth. If they're trying to save $, why not cancel that iPhone/iTunes/iStarbucks junk that I'm never going to use -- I have this nifty thing already called 'the internet'. I've had some pretty shoddy service and long waits last time I went to Starbucks, which now was... 2 months ago. Tully's breakfast bagels are nothing like Starbucks' tasty offerings, but they're way better than nothing!

"The aroma of the stores"? I've never been in a SBUX that was cranking our breakfast sandwiches like MickeyD's burgers so the coffee aroma *always* overpowered whatever else was being served. People are increasingly looking for more nutritious food these days, not less. I guess the smart money's on not going to Starbucks at all. By why do so many otherwise-conscious Seattleites go so much?

There was only one place near me that hand warm breakfast sandwiches. But some of their other sandwiches were just nasty and overpriced. It's sad to see the breakfast sandwiches go, but I hope the rest does too. Simple is always good.
